Artemisia Gentileschi?

My favorite painting ever it titled Judith Beheading Holofernes. Looking at the painting its very dark and violent. Usually I'm a hearts and flowers girl, but this painting just captured my thoughts and held on tight. So what's your opinion of the piece and why is A.G.'s work so dark?
