Does anyone else love Benicio del Toro?

He's a fascinating, intense actor. I wonder why he isn't an A-list star. Don't get me wrong, he's well-known and has won an Academy Award, but you never hear his name mentioned alongside, say, Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. Maybe because he vanishes into his roles, which are often in heavy films dealing with serious topics (he's not Mr. Romantic Comedy). I was recently watching the film he did with Halle Berry last year, Things We Lost in the Fire, and he brought so much to it. His performance as a reforming drug abuser felt very realistic and was devastatingly emotional. And he was of course brilliant in 21 Grams and Traffic (and creepy and intimidating in Sin City). Can't wait to see him as Che Guevara in the Steven Soderbergh-directed epic. He's also playing the Wolf Man in a new version.
